An 18th-Century brick servants' quarters and the estate's former private schoolhouse, screened by the ancient boxwoods of The 1804 Inn, the Cottages have been renovated to 21st Century standards of comfort, including air-conditioning and individual kitchen, while carefully preserving their irreplaceable charm: wood beam ceilings, working fireplaces, and original windows. Incomparable resting places for couples on any tour of the Virginia Piedmont, these cottage accommodations are named for one of Barboursville's great Italian reds, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Sangiovese. A two-room suite with balcony deck, satellite television and private laundry facilities, the Sangiovese cottage is an excellent choice for an extended stay (please inquire about rates for 5 days or more).
Fresh fruit, cheeses, and a bottle of the guest's choice from a selection of red, white, or sparkling wine from the estate are provided on arrival.
Each accommodation is furnished with microwave oven, small stove and refrigerator, and with such amenities as coffee, tea, fresh milk, fruit, cereal, yogurt, bottled water and more. Selected prepared hot breakfast items are also available for self-service.
